Chris Tremain

About Me:
I was born and raised in Napier and attended Taradale Primary School and Taradale Intermediate before moving to Napier Boys High School for my secondary schooling. I have many great memories of my time at Napier Boys especially on the sports field as a member of the school 1st XV, and in my final year as head boy. Afterwards I went on to Massey University to further my education, where I obtained a Bachelor of Business Studies (Accounting) and a Diploma of Business Studies (Marketing).
I have been involved in a number of Hawke’s Bay businesses including Tremain Real Estate, Jennian Homes, Tremain Travel Cafe and Colliers International. I have a real passion for Napier and believe in the importance of community involvement.

I was the Chairman of Sport Hawke’s Bay from 2001 to 2005, and have driven of a number of successful community events including the annual Tremain Corporate Triathlon, which has become a huge event on the Hawke’s Bay Sporting calendar.

About being an MP:
“Being a Member of Parliament is a real privilege and I thank the people of Napier for giving me the opportunity to represent them.”
I won the seat of Napier in 2005 with a 3,581 majority. This was the first time in 51 years that Labour lost its Hawke’s Bay stronghold. In the 2008 election, the majority was increased to 9,018. In the National-led Government, I am the Government Senior Whip.
