MPs Congratulate improvement at DHB

August 27, 2010

Results released today outline massive improvements in three of the health targets, as well as dependably high achievements in the three other targets, which reflects Hawke’s Bay District Health Board’s work to deliver better health services from the health sector to the community. The shorter stays in ED health target jumped 19.3 percent from a first quarter result of 73 percent to 92.6 percent in the figures released today.
Local MPs Chris Tremain and Craig Foss are rapt with this result and congratulate all of the team at the HBDHB for the hard yards that have gone into achieving this huge improvement in the quarterly health targets.

Craig Foss said ”Awesome reductions have been achieved in the wait times at Hawke’s Bay Hospital’s Emergency Department. The success that has been achieved for smoking cessation advice delivered to patients and improvements in the number of people having elective surgery is fantastic.”

Chris Tremain added “The DHB also improved on its consistently good results in immunisation rates of two year-olds and in diabetes and cardiovascular services. We appreciate that these improvements have been achieved in a budget constrained environment which clearly demonstrates the hard work put in by all the team.”

“The most important aspect of these results is that Hawke’s Bay patients are receiving better care and we are reducing their risk of future illness.”
Both MPs acknowledge the hard work that has gone into the improvement in results and wanted to say “Well done HBDHB and keep up the great work”. The MPs have written to the team at the DHB to thank them for their efforts.
