Foss makes humble pie

June 8, 2010

Craig Foss MP for Tukituki donned a bakers apron and headed to  the Pak’n ‘Save bakery department to experience firsthand the life of a baker.

“I’ve always enjoyed eating all the good stuff that comes out of a bakery so it was a great opportunity for me to be shown that there’s more to it than just paying at the checkout counter” said a floury Craig.

David Smith owner of the Hastings Pak’n’Save was more than happy for Craig to come into his bakery department and work side by side with his friendly team.

Craig said “I experienced quiche making, cake decorating,  pie lining, bread roll packing and bread slicing. There is  a lot more to all of these jobs than meets the eye. The team were a great  group of  professionals who  put up with my amateur efforts with good advice and a bit of intervention.”

Craig’s work experience will continue with him being the apprentice coffee maker at Sutto Café  on Tuesday afternoon.

“After my cake experience I’m looking forward to washing it all down with a cup of good coffee” joked Craig.
