Local MP’s breakfast with Youth MP’s

April 26, 2010

This morning Craig Foss MP for Tukituki and Chris Tremain MP for Napier briefed their respective Youth MP’s on the job ahead of them.

Brittany Kershaw from Flaxmere College will represent the Tukituki Electorate and Jordan Anderson from Sacred Heart College will represent the Napier Electorate at the 2010 Youth Parliament to be held in July.

Chris said ” The high calibre of students is a credit to our local High Schools. These future leaders are an exciting bunch of kids and I am delighted to be represented by Jordan who will be the Chief Whip.”

“The job down in Wellington is an important one that can at times take your breath away,” said Craig. “These young ladies are in for a treat and I’m thrilled that these two “Bay” girls are representing us in the House.”

Youth Parliament 2010 is an opportunity for young New Zealanders (16–18 years) to learn about New Zealand’s democracy and influence public decision-making. During Youth Parliament, Youth MPs have the opportunity to debate legislation, sit on select committees and ask parliamentary questions of Cabinet Ministers.

“Youth Parliament has been held every three years since 1994. Its a great opportunity that is given to our young people and we both fully support our local Youth MP’s ” said local MP’s Craig Foss and Chris Tremain.
