Craig Foss MP for Tukituki was at Mangateretere School on Friday 16th June taking part in a planting programme.

“I was delighted to be asked to join the students of Mangateretere School with their restoration and beautification native tree planting programme,” said Craig.

Mangateretere School is one of 3 new schools that have recently joined the Shade House Project and will be growing for the Te Karamu Enhancement Project . Friday’s planting was at the school grounds, however all native plants and trees that the children grow in their new  shade house over the coming years will be planted into a significant site at the Te Karamu Stream.

“What a great bunch of kids,” said Craig who was wearing his best gummies for the occasion. “The planting of the natives was an awesome chance to get down and do something positive with these kids. And I loved the experience.”

The Shade House in Schools project is supported and funded by the Hawke’s Bay Regional Council.
